Painting Projects

Paint is the most visible change you can make to a space — and the quality of prep work determines how long it lasts. Here's what goes into a professional paint project and what we look for before the first brush hits the wall.

FLOORINGGarland, Tx

Cecy Living Room

We remodeled Cecy's home. This is the living room with luxury vinyl plank flooring and painting the wood panel and trim.

What these projects usually involve

  • Surface preparation: patching, sanding, priming, and caulking
  • Interior wall and ceiling painting
  • Trim, door, and baseboard painting
  • Exterior paint and caulking for weatherproofing
  • Garage floors and specialty coatings on request

The reality behind the walls

Demo day often reveals what years of normal use — and previous shortcuts — leave behind. Common hidden issues we uncover in painting projects:

  • Water stains that indicate an active or unresolved roof or plumbing leak — painting over them without fixing the source will not hold long-term
  • Settled drywall cracks along corners and ceilings that widen over time if not properly addressed before painting
  • Old paint conditions in homes built before 1978 that require specific handling during prep and material disposal

Plan ahead before materials are chosen

Finish type

Flat or matte for ceilings; eggshell or satin for walls; semi-gloss for trim, doors, and bathroom walls where moisture resistance matters.

Color palette

Test large swatches under your actual lighting — paint changes appearance dramatically between daylight, LED, and incandescent light sources.

Trim color

Crisp white trim is a safe classic that works in most homes. Matching trim to the wall color is a modern look but requires clean, precise execution to work.

Ceiling treatment

Painting the ceiling even one shade lighter than the walls helps rooms feel taller. Painting it the same color as the walls creates a cocooned, contemporary look.

Accent wall decision

One well-placed accent wall can define a space without overwhelming it. More than one in the same room usually competes rather than complements.

Our no-surprises approach

When demo reveals unexpected conditions — damage, improper prior work, or structural issues — we stop and show you exactly what we found. We then present clear options before any additional work begins:

  1. 1.Safe minimum correction — the smallest fix that meets code and prevents the issue from worsening
  2. 2.Solid long-term standard — the repair we would do in our own home, built to last without revisiting
  3. 3.Upgraded future-proof option — the version that handles the next 20+ years without question

You choose. We execute. No pressure, no surprises.
